"Different timeline, same answer, never."

—Josie to Avenir, Conclusions Part 3

Josie Trent is a skate-punk-girl and the fire behind the Science Club. She has blue eyes and bright red hair it is not shown but Josie has a sister named Luna. She is driven by intense curiosity, a determination to rebel against authority, and a need to seem independent.

Background[]

Josie gets sent to Blake Holsey High by her mother, after she has been kicked out of a number of past schools, probably due to her dense personal record. Josie soon discovers that the school is nothing like the others she has attended in the past and that strange things keep occurring, which she is keen on getting to the bottom of. Josie walked into the science club on her first day, and after explaining molecular decomposition, proves that she does know about science.

Personality[]

Josie is smart and head-strong and she never backs down from a fight. Josie's rebellious nature causes a great deal of trouble; it results in frequent conflict with Principal Durst and puts a strain on her friendship with roommate Corrine Baxter. Although her feisty attitude does sometimes get her into trouble, she is proud of voicing her opinions and very often comes up with solutions to help get the group out of whatever situation they are in.

Josie is a rebellious spirit at heart and tends to stand out from the crowd, not only in the way she dresses but also when forming her thoughts and opinions on matters and the way she looks at life in general. She is not too concerned about landing herself in trouble, however she cares about Science and is quite knowledgeable in the subject.

She is curious and inquisitive, almost to a fault, as she is more interested in learning more about the goings on at Blake Holsey High and Pearadyne Industries, then about any rules she might be breaking in the meantime. Coupled with her curiosity, Josie's disregard and distrust for authority spurs her on to get to the bottom of the Blake Holsey mystery. She would sacrifice almost anything to discover what Victor Pearson is really up to. However, Josie generally wishes to do good through her actions, to be a hero and not merely a rebel.

Josie is quite messy and her side of the room is almost in a constant state of untidyness, as Corinne and other people are quick to comment. Despite the apparent mess, Josie knows where her things are and can usually quickly find what she needs or is looking for. Josie often listens to music from her CDs on her portable CD player, has a passion for skateboarding, as she owns her own skateboard and has plenty of skating-related stickers around her room, and enjoys science.

Physical Description[]

Josie has vibrant red hair and fair skin with hazel eyes, and is on the shorter side. She often does her hair in a number of different, fun and unique hairstyles, such as braids, ponytails, pigtails etc.

She also customizes her uniform with her own touch, such as wearing her own T-shirts under her school shirt, very often not wearing a tie but one of her own necklaces instead. She also adds her own belts, which are very different from the standard black belt worn by the other students. Josie also sometimes mixes and matches her socks, such as by wearing a white sock under a black sock on one leg and a black sock under a white sock, on the other. Josie is often seen in sneakers paired with her uniform and wears a black and grey backpack for carrying her books and other items.

When out of her uniform, Josie is always laid-back and comfortable, wearing comfy jeans, T-shirts, and coloured hoodies, always adding that Jodie touch with necklaces, wristbands, belts and sometimes hats.

Throughout the Series[]

Season 1[]

Josie and Vaughn have been part of the strange things happening around Blake Holsey. After Vaughn was caught with her Chi Ball, Vaughn and Josie had exchanged intelligence and then memories. Vaughn gained enhanced intelligence, but returned it back to Josie. Josie gained a number of specific memories from Vaughn, including a repressed one from infancy, when Sarah Lynch gave Vaughn a pendant which Victor was to hold onto until the proper time. The pendant was the key to a holographic message to Vaughn that could only be opened using the biometics of Josie and Vaughn. Josie and Vaughn learned that they have the same DNA helix.

Season 2[]

When Josie thought Vaughn went into the wormhole to find his mother, she went after him, but landed in the past, when Blake Holsey High was newly built. She was later rescued by the student Science Club members, but Vaughn was temporarily stranded in 1977. Josie went after him and brought him back to the present. Josie decided to use the wormhole to travel back to the past, before Victor Pearson and Sarah Lynch used the Chi Ball in Pearadyne. Josie took the Chi Ball and returned to the future, hoping something good will come out of it. She was dead wrong. It turned out that Blake Holsey High was abandoned, the students and teachers were gone, and only she was left in this alternate reality of the future of her timeline, observed by the Janitor, and Josie's Clone.

Season 3[]

For over a year, Josie was trapped in the alternate world, where she found the pendant that Sarah Pearson left behind in the past. Josie was eventually rescued by her clone, who traded places with her in the universe and told her that Avenir was the enemy of her universe. Josie returned to her world and learned that Avenir, the new headmaster, was her father.

Season 4[]

Josie, with the help from her friends, is able to prevent Avenir from taking control of the Chi gong ball and having dominion over space and time. Aparently, Josie is one of many Josie's in many alternate realities who have continually fought the same Avenir. With Sarah Pearson's help, the Josie that we know stops Avenir for all time.

In the end Josie and the gang say goodbye and she looks forward to a future of summer school (since she did not graduate like the others) and catching up with her mom.

Relationships[]

Kelly Trent[]

Josie has never been close to her mother, Kelly Trent, whose top-secret job drives a wedge between them, and she hasn't been told much about her father. Because of this, she finds it difficult to let her guard down and to trust people. Despite the distance between them, however, mother and daughter do love each other.

Vaughn Pearson[]

She has a volatile relationship with Vaughn Pearson, the son of Victor. She is pulled by the strings of trust and distrust. Since the Brainwaves episode, Josie's relationship with Lucas Randall has become more complicated. While it's clear that she does care for Lucas at least as a friend, his attempts to sabotage Vaughn irk her.

Marshall Wheeler[]

Marshall has a crush on Josie, which is unreciprocated. They are close friends and members of the Science Club, where they spend a lot of time together.

Quotes[]

  • Professor Z: "Are you here for Science Club?"
Josie Trent: "Science Club? You're joking, right?"
Professor Z: "No. We always have an opening for an interested student, Miss..."
Josie Trent: "Trent, Josie Trent and I'm not interested.
Professor Z: "Oh, well that's too bad because we were just discussing the possible molecular deconstruction of a Science Professor."
Josie Trent: "Then I better go, wouldn't want to keep you from that..."
Professor Z: "'Fraid you might learn something? *pause*
Josie Trent: "Molecular deconstruction? Cells are made up of molecules; molecules are made up of atoms; once you start dealing with atoms, quantum mechanics kicks in, and all the rules go out the window. Ergo, You can take an atom apart to the subatomic level, and put it back together again. In theory, you can molecularly deconstruct anything: plants, chewing gum, even something less complex. Like a science teacher."
    Professor Z: "Ouch."
Josie Trent: "My guess: your professor was sucked into a vortex. Later."
